Hi, I'm Elizabeth

I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who believes every person deserves a space where they feel respected and understood. My work is grounded in curiosity and the belief that meaningful change happens when we explore not only our individual experiences, but also the relationships and systems that shape them.

My Approach

My approach is collaborative, culturally aware, and guided by my curiosity. I work from systemic psychotherapy approaches, combining methodologies from Narrative Therapy, Collaborative Language Systems, the Mental Research Institute, and Brief Relational Couple Therapy. My systemic approach is especially helpful for exploring relationship patterns, communication, conflict, and the ways we connect with the people who matter most.

Through my education and lived experience, I understand how culture, race, body size, identity, and social experiences shape the way we understand ourselves and the world around us.

I continue reflecting on how my own experiences shape the way I show up as a therapist, while honoring that each client brings their own unique history, identities, and perspectives into therapy.

My Story & Perspective

My life has been shaped by navigating multiple cultures, languages, and ways of understanding the world. Those experiences have deepened my appreciation for identity, belonging, and the complexity each person brings into therapy.

I strive to create a space where clients of all backgrounds feel respected, understood, and free to explore the parts of themselves that may not always feel welcome elsewhere.

Beyond the Therapy Room

In addition to providing therapy, I offer workshops and presentations for businesses, organizations, universities, and community organizations on topics related to mental health, relationships, communication, and well-being.

I also serve as a Supervisor Candidate, supporting therapists in training and have experience across university counseling, healthcare, military, substance use treatment, and private practice settings.

My Education

I earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Alabama, followed by a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Valdosta State University.

Why "Your Story" Therapy?

Stories are powerful.

Humans have always known this. Early humans drew scenes on cave walls, Egyptians carved histories in hieroglyphs, and  today we share our lives on social media.

Stories have always been how we teach, remember, warn, entertain and pass down love, values, and tradition.

And the stories we tell ourselves and others, shape how we understand the world. They can remind us of who we are, protect us from harm, or help us make sense of what's next. Stories can carry wisdom, identity, survival, or pain.

Sometimes, we find ourselves stuck in a story or a relationship challenge that no longer fits the life we want to create.

I would be honored to walk alongside you as you explore your story from a new perspective and write the next chapter for your life or your relationships.
