Elizabeth, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, offers personalized therapy for clients across Alabama.
Therapy at YST blends evidence-based practices with culturally grounded care -- honoring each client's unique story, background, and voice.
I will listen with authentic interest, honor the uniqueness of your story, and remain mindful of how systems, language, and identity shape your experience.
I will not position myself as the expert on your life, but rather a collaborator who offers honesty, transparency, and care.
Your Story Therapy is inclusive of all identities, faiths, and backgrounds. We proudly support clients from Arab, Muslim, Christian, Atheist, and interfaith communities.
We also offer letters of support at no additional cost.
Therapy is a deeply personal experience, and your privacy is protected by law.
Under HIPAA (a federal law that protects health information), everything you share with Your Story Therapy stays completely confidential - including the fact that you're in therapy at all.
Your story belongs to you. I'm here to hold it with care, not share it.
Marriage and Family Therapists are psychotherapists trained in relational and systemic approaches. The MFT approach is grounded in the idea that personal challenges are best understood -- and treated -- within the context of relationships. MFTs recognize that our experiences and relational patterns shape not only our current struggles, but also how we see ourselves and the world around us.
Not at all. You don't need to be married -- or even in a relationship -- to benefit from Marriage and Family Therapy. MFTs work with individuals, couples, families, siblings, roommates, co-parents, and those in culturally specific or intergenerational communities. The focus is always on relationships -- in whatever form they take in your life. That might mean your connection to a partner, a parent, a community, or even your relationship to anxiety, self-doubt, or the part of you that's been hard to understand.
Yes -- research shows that video therapy can be just as effective as in-person sessions. One of the strongest predictors of success in therapy is the quality of the therapist-client relationship, and that can be built beautifully online.
In fact, video therapy offers unique benefits -- including access for clients in rural areas, those without reliable transportation, or those balancing work and family demands. It's therapy that fits into your real life.
That said, video therapy isn't right for everyone. If we discover together that it isn't the best fit, I'll help you explore alternatives.
Stay connected -- gently. Occasional updates, reflections, and offerings from Your Story Therapy, delivered just a few times a year. No clutter, no pressure.
